14 months. Simultaneously an incredibly long and short amount of time has passed between my last post and now. As I approach the final days of my senior year, I find myself in a similar position to the one I experienced two years ago such that I will be studying abroad again!
Without going overboard on detailing the events of the past year, I will say that the transition back to American life occurred rather seamlessly. Of course, I experienced reverse culture shock and have missed nuances of the Indian lifestyle (still wish I had a butt shower installed in my bathroom), but have also found ways of continuing what I have learned. I have given myself excuses to drone on about my time abroad through presentations which I hope count as participation for the Yes Abroad Alumni Association (YAAA). Preparing to go abroad again has also allowed me to draw from previous experience and I feel prepared for the stumbles I will face in the near future. Reflecting on my experiences through writing has tremendously helped me learn from my experiences and preserve them online. Stemming from that, I plan on continuing this page for the next four years as I travel to China and experience something completely different to the education I have received in the past. If interested - click the tab for my China blog above. Having succeeded in keeping this post to a reasonable length, I am reminded of how much I enjoy contributing to this page and will set a reminder for myself to post as things get moving this summer!
